Will adding additional references improve MobileEngine’s performance?

MobileEngine does not need to train with your images, unlike purely machine learning-based recognition systems. While including multiple reference images can improve performance in different lighting conditions, a single clean and evenly lit image is usually sufficient for items that have a clear front face, like cards, comics, and artwork. Ideally, in addition to your reference images being good-quality, they should be consistent. If you have multiple similar images, but the lighting conditions for each of them are very different, those conditions can affect match performance more than the small details that make the images different.

If your users frequently scan other parts of the items in your collection, such as back covers of comics or alternate faces of packaged products, you should add images for these to your collection.
